This verse started off as a poem but eventually turned into a song. After recording it, myself and Justyn Waves decided to scrap the song but wanted to release this verse somehow. Dustin Gibson ft. Young Gauge – Lasting Memories (Prod. Justyn Waves)
This is a very rough version of a song that was recorded hours ago. I took voicemails that Young Gauge had sent to me before his passing and placed them on the song. This is a powerful song and anyone who has lost someone can relate to it. It’s also the first time that Justyn Waves, Gauge and myself are on the same song. It hurts to know that he’s not here but his memory will last through tributes such as this one.

Almost everyone can relate to the emotion in this song. It tells a story of someone who felt something that wasn’t real and got back up after being knocked down. The song is produced by Justyn Waves and was recorded almost a year ago. It was inspired by events that took place in our lives and the aim was to tell our story in the only way we knew how. Hit the jump below for the youtube version of the track.
Terence Staten, aka Gauge was a father, son, partner, friend and talented musician. He left the world too soon, on April 17, 2011, leaving behind four children – Tari, age 9, Malachi, age 7, Nashia, age 6 and Terence Jr, age 1, as well as his fiance Lena, mother Beverly, father Terreal, brother Lamar, sisters, Marquita Mary Nicole, Marteisha Namarae and Marchelle Nikita and aunt Ruthie as well as numerous great-aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, friends and fans.
A Memorial Fund has been created to benefit and support young Tari, Malachi, Nashia and Terence Jr. following the devestating loss of their father. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated and can be made at ANY U.S. Bank location under the Terence Staten Memorial Fund.
Rest in Peace to our cousin and brother Terry Staten. We will keep his memory alive through the 15th Story brand and the music and inspiration he left us with. We love you.
15th Story – Broken (Prod. Justyn Waves)
The artwork for this song has a powerful message behind it. The picture was taken in Jasper, TX after James Byrd, Jr. was dragged by three white men back in 1998. The circles on the road are chalk outlines of his bodily remains. This symbolizes something being broken; whether it be our system, our society or us internally. The song reflects the things in my life that I feel have been broken at one point in time.
